Once you become a permanent resident of Canada, you can stay and work as long as you wish, and study for local tuition fees! Immigrating Canada doesn’t mean that you give up your original citizenship; you can be a permanent resident of Canada AND a citizen of your country.
Canada offers programs to help reunite Canadian citizens and permanent residents with close family members. If you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada, you can sponsor your spouse, common-law or conjugal partner, dependent children (including adopted children) or other eligible relatives to become a permanent resident.
Once you become a permanent resident of Canada, you will have the right to get most social benefits that Canadian citizens receive (local tuition fees, health care coverage, etc…) and may be able to apply for Canadian citizenship after living several years. To keep your status as a permanent resident, you are required to meet certain residency obligations. You can also keep your original citizenship after becoming a permanent resident or a citizen of Canada as Canadian law allows you to hold two or more citizenships if your country of citizenship also accepts dual citizenship!
